The Central Superior Services (CSS) 2024 examination results have revealed that women have secured nearly 48 per cent of all allocated positions.

Official figures show that out of 229 successful candidates, 110 are women, marking the highest female participation in recent history. For the first time, seven of the top ten positions have been secured by women.

While women’s representation in the CSS exams has shown steady improvement over the past decade, this year’s results mark a significant shift from previous trends.

Between 2015 and 2024, the share of women among successful candidates fluctuated between 34 and 44 percent, but the 2024 results have pushed that figure to a record 48 percent, nearly equalling their male counterparts, who secured 119 positions.

Data shows that female representation stood at 44.1 percent in 2015, dipped to 43.5 percent in 2016 and 40.8 percent in 2017, before declining further to 34.8 percent in 2021.

The trend began to recover in subsequent years, reaching 38.9 percent in 2022 and 40.4 percent in 2023, before this year’s unprecedented jump to 48 percent, signaling a new era of gender balance in Pakistan’s bureaucracy.
