Pakistan's largest city, Karachi, is expected to receive 'above than normal' rain during the upcoming monsoon season in the port city.
A weather expert has shared good news for heatwave-hit Karachiites.
Weather analyst Jawad Memon, in a Facebook post, said that under an upper air circulation (UAC), several districts of Sindh, including Karachi would receive rain and thunderstorms today (June 8).
However, the hot and humid weather is likely to persist in the metropolis during the next 24 hours.
“Under the influence of UAC, weather is likely to be hot and humid in Karachi with temperatures 36°C to 37°C, while humidity level would remain high to 65% to 70%, which is likely to push up feel-like temperatures to 45°C to 52°C,” said Memon.
“However, a high level of humidity is increasing the chances of rain and thunderstorms in Karachi, but for a short period,” he added.
Moreover, Jawad Memon said there was only a 30% chance of rain in the megapolis.
Earlier, weatherman Owais Haider had indicated that light rain could begin in the city by Sunday evening or night due to the anticipated formation of the "thunder-cells" in the northeast.
