Google reveals Pakistan’s most-searched topics of 2025

Google has released its list of Pakistan’s most-searched topics for 2025, covering seven major categories, including cricket, athletes, local news, technology, recipes, “how-to” queries and drama serials.

In a statement, Google said the lists were compiled by analysing “trillions of searches each year” and identifying the most trending queries among users in Pakistan.

Cricket

Cricket dominated online activity, with Pakistan vs South Africa emerging as the most-searched cricket term. It was followed by Pakistan Super League (PSL), Asia Cup, Pakistan vs India, Pakistan vs New Zealand, India vs England, Pakistan vs West Indies, India vs Australia, ICC Champions Trophy and Pakistan vs UAE.

Athletes

Among athletes, India’s Abhishek Sharma was the most searched. Pakistani cricketers Hassan Nawaz, Irfan Khan Niazi, Sahibzada Farhan and Mohammad Abbas were also among the top names. Others on the list included Saim Ayub, Yasir Khan, Kaashif Ali, Saif Hassan and Abdul Samad.

Local News

The most-searched news topic in Pakistan this year was the Punjab Socio-Economic Registry. Searches for Karachi floods, Iran, “Asaan Karobar Card”, flooding in River Chenab, results of federal and Karachi matric examinations, the Prime Minister Laptop Scheme, gold prices in Pakistan and the Class 9 examination schedule also ranked highly.

Technology

In technology searches, Google Gemini topped the list. It was followed by Tamasha, DeepSeek, MyCo, On4t, Google AI Studio, Claude, iPhone 17, Grok and NFTs.

Recipes

Pakistanis most frequently looked up sandwich recipes in the food category. Food Fusion recipes came next, while quinoa, dough, desserts, mutton, easy recipes, tofu, soup and beef recipes completed the list.

How-to Searches

“How to check Karachi e-challan” was the top instructional query. Users also searched how to unsend messages on Instagram, understand car insurance, invest in cryptocurrency, invest in the stock market, apply for a credit card, create Ghibli-style photos, choose the best lawyer, print from a phone using an app, and upload a blog.

Drama Serials

In entertainment, Geo’s drama Sher received the highest number of searches. The channel’s dramas Aas Paas and Dhaen also remained among the most-searched shows.

Google publishes these rankings annually to highlight shifting interests and search behaviour among its users in Pakistan.
