Meta-owned Instagram has unveiled a new feature enabling users to share their profile information through customisable, two-sided profile cards.
According to Instagram, this innovation aims to simplify connections, collaborations, and friendships, particularly among Gen Z users who utilize their profiles as digital resumes.
Instagram says users can share their profile cards with potential collaborators or brands in a quick and easy way.
The company also believes the feature can be used to make new friends who share similar interests by sharing the profile card in Instagram groups or online events.
The development comes in response to a recent survey indicating over 50% of Gen Zers aspire to become influencers.
"Profile cards offer a convenient way for users to share their profile information and showcase their interests," an Instagram spokesperson stated.
The feature is rolling out globally to all users, building upon Instagram's existing QR code sharing capability introduced in 2018.
Instagram's move underscores its focus on empowering creators and fostering community engagement.
