Meta AI unveils generative video editing feature for creativity

Meta AI has introduced a new generative AI-powered video editing tool, now accessible via the Meta AI app, the Meta.AI website, and the Edits app.

According to the company’s press release issued Thursday, this feature allows users to enhance short-form videos using a range of preset prompts.

With just a tap, users can apply AI-driven transformations to elements such as clothing, backgrounds, and lighting. The tool is built on Meta’s Movie Gen models and represents an initial move toward broader integration of AI video generation within Meta’s ecosystem, the company stated.

A future update, expected later this year, will enable users to make personalized edits using their own text prompts.

This editing feature is designed to be user-friendly, requiring no professional experience.

After uploading a clip through any of the three supported platforms, users can choose from more than 50 preset editing prompts. As part of a limited-time offer, 10-second video transformations can be created at no cost.

Once edited, videos can be shared directly to Facebook and Instagram via the Meta AI and Edits apps, or posted to the Discover feed on Meta.AI’s website.

Separately, Bloomberg recently reported that Meta Platforms is exploring a potential investment of over $10 billion in the AI startup Scale AI, although no additional details have been disclosed.
