PTA denies reports of reduction in mobile phone taxes

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has rejected reports circulating on social media regarding a reduction in taxes on mobile phones, clarifying that the information being shared is entirely false and misleading.

In an official statement, the PTA said that a notification attributed to the authority on social media platforms—claiming a reduction in mobile phone taxes and outlining alleged instructions for importers and consumers—is fake and carries no legal standing.

The authority confirmed that no reduction has been made in taxes imposed on mobile phones.

The PTA has advised the public, importers and the business community not to rely on unverified or false information, and to seek all updates only from official PTA channels or other authorised government sources.

Earlier reports were floating about the reduction in the taxes.
