Eleven policemen in Bannu were dismissed for refusing to participate in polio duty in Lakki Marwat, as per a report.

These personnel, including head constables, junior head constables, and drivers, were ordered to accompany polio teams but defied their officer's directive.

This incident comes as Pakistan faces increasing concerns over the spread of poliovirus. On September 16, the Sindh government removed Jacobabad's Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ali and SSP Sameer Noor Channa for security lapses during polio efforts.

The District Health Officer of Jacobabad was also dismissed.

In a related incident on September 21, two health officials were suspended in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after the first polio case of the year was confirmed in a nine-month-old girl from District Mohmand.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur ordered an inquiry and suspended the district health officer and polio coordinator responsible for the area.
