KARACHI – A significant number of candidates from Sindh’s educational boards have failed the NED University of Engineering and Technology’s admission test, with Larkana Board recording the poorest performance.

According to official data, 68 per cent of candidates from the Larkana Board failed the entrance exam, despite many of them securing A-1 and A grades in their intermediate examinations.

The situation was similarly disappointing for students from the Mirpurkhas Board, where hundreds of A-1 and A grade achievers were also unable to pass the test.

Students from Hyderabad, Nawabshah, and Sukkur boards also fared poorly, with hundreds failing to meet the admission criteria of NED University.

Specifically, 59 per cent of candidates from Mirpurkhas Board, 55 percent from Nawabshah, 66 percent from Sukkur, and 53 percent from Hyderabad failed the exam — many despite holding top grades.

In contrast, the Aga Khan Board recorded the highest success rate, with 89 percent of its candidates passing, followed by the Karachi Inter Board, where 76 per cent cleared the test.

Notably, apart from the Karachi Inter Board, no other board in Sindh saw even half of its candidates successfully pass the NED admission test, raising concerns about the quality and standardization of education across the province.
