14-year-old girl raped by stepfather for over a year in Lahore

In a harrowing incident, a 14-year-old girl was raped by his stepfather for over a year in Lahore, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the victim, identified as Alishba, works as a 24/7 house help in Hanjarwala area of the metropolis.

"Alishba would visit her home weekly or monthly, where her stepfather would exploit her, threatening to harm her and her mother if she spoke out," the law enforcers informed.

The abuse came to light when Alishba's mother visited her at her employer's house and noticed her daughter's reluctance to return home. 

"Upon inquiry, Alishba revealed to her mother about the sexual assault," police said.

Police registered a case against Shahid at Chung police station and handed him over to the gender cell.

Reacting to the distressing incident, SP Saddar Dr Ghayur Ahmad Khan said that those who exploit children and women deserve "no leniency".
