In a tragic incident, a 5-year-old boy was killed after his minor cousin accidentally fired a loaded gun in Karachi’s Azam Basti.

The victim, identified as Burhan, was injured by a pistol that belonged to his father, Babar Javed.

Burhan’s six-year-old cousin reportedly found the loaded firearm and began playing with it.

Station House Officer (SHO) Mehmoodabad, Aijaz Pathan, informed the media that the gun went off accidentally while the young boy was handling it.

Following the incident, Burhan’s body was immediately rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for medical and legal procedures.

Police officials stated that the relevant authorities would further investigate the incident.

A similar tragedy occurred earlier on August 29, in Federal B Area, Block-3, where a man accidentally shot his 11-month-old daughter while cleaning his pistol.

Initially, the baby’s parents told the police that the incident was an accident, but authorities expressed doubt over their statements.

The deceased girl’s body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and police launched an investigation into the matter.

The easy access to firearms and the irresponsible handling of weapons continue to pose a serious threat and raise concerns about the increasing frequency of such tragic incidents.
