9-year-old boy raped by Imam in a mosque in Punjab

In yet another incident of child sexual abuse, a 9-year-old boy was raped by an Imam (prayer leader) of a mosque in Pakpattan city of Punjab.

According to police, the distressing incident took place in the jurisdiction of Malka Bans police station on June 29.

As per the details provided by the law enforcers, the victim had gone to the mosque to study the Holy Quran when the suspect, identified as Qari Mohammad Akram, forcibly took him into his room and committed the heinous act.

A case was registered against the suspect on the complaint of the minor boy's father, Muhammad Irfan.

However, the police are conducting raids to arrest the culprit, who remains at large.

This is the fifth reported case of child sexual abuse in Punjab in two weeks.

In a sexual abuse incident on June 25, a 7-year-old boy was raped and murdered by his cousin brother in Punjab's Lodhran.

A 12-year-old boy was raped at gunpoint by three suspects in Lahore on June 22.

On June 20, a minor boy was allegedly raped by his seminary teacher in a mosque located in Depalpur city of Punjab.

A mentally challenged girl was raped by her relative in Lodhran city on June 19.
