A deadly exchange of fire between two groups of the Bugti family in Karachi's DHA Khayaban-e-Nishat area resulted in the death of five people.

According to police, two people were also injured in the feud shooting in port city's posh area.

The deceased have been identified as Mir Maysam Bugti, Mir Isa Bugti, Ali Bugti and Naseebullah Bugti, according to hospital authorities.

Fahad Bugti, nephew of former Governor Balochistan Nawab Akbar Bugti, was also among those killed.

Mir Ali Haider Bugti and Qaim Ali Bugti were injured in the incident and shifted to the hospital.

Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hasan Lanjar said that the shooting was the result of "personal enmity".

"The dead and injured belonged to the same tribe," he added.

The provincial minister has sought details of the incident from Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi Javed Alam Odho.

The PPP leader directed the authorities to "establish the writ of law" in the crime-hit metropolis.

However, police have detained 12 people from different areas of DHA, belonging to both groups of the Bugti community, and recovered weapons from them.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
