Islamabad: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Sunday voiced concern over the current political developments in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, stating that he plans to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to discuss the situation and seek a solution through dialogue.

Addressing a meeting of the PPP AJK Parliamentary Party in Islamabad, Bilawal said that he would hold talks with the prime minister and work towards resolving the issues through parliamentary consultation and consensus.

The meeting was attended by PPP AJK political affairs in-charge and PPP Women’s Wing President Faryal Talpur, along with members of the party’s parliamentary group from AJK.

Participants reviewed the evolving political situation in the region and exchanged views on recent developments, offering suggestions on how to address the challenges.

Bilawal emphasized the PPP’s longstanding commitment to the Kashmir cause, saying that the party was founded around the issue of Kashmir and has consistently prioritized addressing the concerns of the Kashmiri people.

His remarks came a day after authorities in AJK arrested around 72 individuals allegedly linked to the Joint Awami Action Committee. The arrests followed the AJK government’s decision to ban the organization, accusing it of involvement in terrorism, incitement of hatred, and efforts to create unrest ahead of a protest planned for June 9.
