Dance party in Karachi's Korangi sparks outrage

The dance party oraganised by elites in Karachi's Korangi has sparked outrage among the residents of the area.

As per details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) office was approached for permission of a dance party in Korangi on October 14.

According to a letter, the SSP office after receiving the application forwarded the same to the DC Office for permission citing the police do not have any objection.

The controversial party attended by affluent youth, involved unruly behavior, substance use, and objectionable dance performances. 

When local media alerted the Korangi Industrial Area SHO, he allegedly turned off his phone, advising media representatives to "remain silent," stating, “The permit came from the DC and SSP Korangi; what can I do?”

The situation gained attention when Functional League Korangi President Chaudhry Tanveer, upon learning about the party, arrived at the scene with party workers and staged a protest. This forced the police to intervene and briefly reprimand the attendees.

Later, the DC Office also denied permission for such dance party.
