Eight dead, 45 injured as storm batters Punjab

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a preliminary report detailing the damage caused by the recent windstorm across Punjab.
According to the PDMA spokesperson, eight people have died and 45 others have been injured in storm-related incidents throughout the province.
The fatalities were reported as follows: three in Jhelum, and one each in Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, and Mianwali.
The spokesperson stated that most casualties occurred due to the collapse of dilapidated buildings and people being in unsafe locations during the storm.

In Lahore, multiple reports were received of uprooted trees and damaged solar panels due to strong winds.
Meanwhile, the Director General of PDMA assured that, as per the Government of Punjab’s policy, financial assistance will be provided to the families of the victims.
