A man who allegedly killed his wife with an iron rod in Karachi’s Orangi Town area over domestic dispute was remanded in police custody for two days by a court on Friday.

64-year-old Asghar Ali allegedly murdered his wife over domestic dispute before surrendering himself at the Pakistan Bazaar police station, the police said.

According to police officials, the incident took place in Sector 11½ of Orangi Town, where the suspect allegedly attacked his wife following domestic dispute.

The duty officer said the accused confessed to killing his wife over personal differences, after which police immediately reached the scene and took the body into custody. The murder weapon, an iron rod, was also recovered from the spot.

Police said the deceased woman was the mother of four children, including two sons and two daughters. No other family member was present in the house at the time of the incident.
