In a historic and progressive development, the Karachi Division of the Railway Police has appointed a female officer to a senior administrative role for the first time in its history.

Lady Head Constable Erum Naseem has been promoted to serve as Head Moharrar (Head Clerk) at APL Karachi Cantt, in recognition of her outstanding performance and unwavering commitment to public service.

The landmark appointment is being widely praised as a symbol of progress and inclusion, reflecting the growing acceptance of women in leadership positions within Pakistan’s law enforcement institutions.

According to officials, Erum Naseem’s promotion is not symbolic, but based entirely on merit. Her exceptional work—especially during her tenure as Incharge of the Help Center—has earned her a reputation for professionalism, compassion, and efficiency.

She was known for effectively supporting passengers and victims, making her one of the most respected officers in the division.

Recognizing her capabilities, the Inspector General of Railway Police has entrusted her with additional responsibilities, describing her promotion as a step forward in promoting gender inclusivity and setting an example for others in uniform.

This is the first time a woman has held this level of responsibility in the Karachi Division of Railway Police—a domain traditionally dominated by men in both administrative and operational roles.

By appointing Erum Naseem, the Railway Police not only affirms her individual excellence but also opens the door for future women leaders in the force.

Her appointment signals a growing understanding that gender should not be a barrier to leadership in law enforcement.

Her colleagues have lauded the move as a milestone moment, calling it a turning point in the division’s history. Many believe that empowering capable women officers like Erum will enhance community engagement, improve service delivery, and inspire future generations of women in uniform.
