Father-in-law beats son-in-law to death in Karachi

A man was murdered on Monday during an argument with his in-laws in the Sachal area of Karachi, police officials added, saying the prime suspect ran away with his sons after the murder.

Policemen said the killing occurred in huts that came up near Jamali Bridge on Super Highway. A heated argument erupted between the victim and his father-in-law, which turned violent.

The father-in-law, assisted by his sons, attacked the victim with sticks during the quarrel, police said.

Rescue officials said volunteers of the Chhipa Welfare Association reached the location after receiving information about the incident. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

The deceased was identified as Ram Ji, 32, son of Sachu.

Sachal SHO Shabbir Hussain confirmed the occurrence, saying that preliminary investigations indicated a case of a family feud. Initial investigations revealed that Ram Ji had a quarrel with his father-in-law. In the tussle, the father-in-law, along with his sons, used to beat sticks against him due to which he died, the SHO said.

The SHO said the father-in-law along with his sons managed to escape from the scene, adding that efforts to trace them and continue the investigation were underway.
