A chaotic scene unfolded on Friday at Saddar Regal Chowk in Karachi as a demonstration by a religious party turned violent.

Protesters pelted stones at police and set fire to tires when they were barred from staging a protest due to Section 144 in the port city.

The law enforcers used tear and baton-charge to disperse the angry demonstrators.

The situation escalated when unidentified individuals erected roadblocks and occupied Regal Chowk, affecting local shopkeepers and citizens.

Ten police personnel, including two Station House Officers (SHOs) and a female officer, were injured during the clash.

The female cop was run over by a police van as it sped away from demonstrators pelting stones. She is currently receiving medical treatment.

Police officials attempted to negotiate with protesters before resorting to force. The area was eventually cleared and reopened for the traffic.
