Four-year-old girl under treatment in Lahore after suspected sexual assault

An unnamed four-year-old girl is currently undergoing medical treatment at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) after being transferred from Kasur in a possible rape case, sources from the hospital and police confirmed on Wednesday.

The girl was first brought to the District Headquarters Hospital in Kasur by staff members of the Lalyani Mustafa Abad Police Station, sources revealed. Due to the severity of her condition and the limited availability of specialized pediatric surgical facilities, doctors at Baba Bulleh Shah Hospital referred the girl to LGH for further medical attention.

A team of specialized doctors performed a thorough medical checkup on the girl and immediately decided to conduct surgery. According to sources from the hospital administration, gynecology and surgery specialists performed the surgery together, and it was successful.

The girl is currently being closely monitored by her doctors, who have declared her condition stable but remain in a critical state.

According to the hospital authorities, in view of the seriousness of the case, a nine-member medical board has been constituted to monitor the treatment of the child. The medical board consists of senior consultants in gynaecology, pediatric surgery, anesthesia, pediatrics, and forensic medicine.

The medical board will not only monitor the treatment of the child but also ensure that all observations are recorded as per medico-legal formalities.

The identity of the child is not known, and so far, no relatives or legal guardians have approached the hospital or the police. The lack of family members has also raised serious doubts about the background of the child and how she has reached this stage.

The authorities have already made efforts to trace her identity by coordinating with the local police in Kasur and the surrounding regions.
