The prime suspects involved in the killing of gold medalist Itteqa Moeen have been arrested from Quetta city in Balochistan, Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) officials said on Saturday.
According to sources within the agency, crucial evidence regarding the killing has been recovered, and the group responsible for the crime has been traced by the law enforcers.
Sources said the suspects are trained criminals and fled to Balochistan after committing the heinous crime.
The suspects' criminal records were obtained, which revealed that the offenders were involved in vehicle and motorcycle snatching across the metropolis.
Sources informed that the snatched cars and motorbikes were sold in Balochistan by the criminals.
The arrest has come amid mounting pressure from opposition parties, demanding a comprehensive operation against criminals in the port city and an end to "politics in the police" to restore peace.
The 27-year-old mechanical engineer and Hafiz Quran was shot dead during a robbery in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Iqbal on June 1.
