Grade 8 student kills best friend over minor dispute in Punjab

In a shocking incident, a student of grade 8 was killed by his best friend over a minor dispute in Punjab's Sargodha, it emerged on Tuesday.

According to police officials, the two students were close friends but got into a bitter dispute online, which escalated into a fatal confrontation.

Police said the incident occurred in Zafar Colony, where the 13-year-old suspect went to his friend's house and shot him dead. 

The police have registered a murder case on the complaint of the victim boy's father.

The law enforcers are currently searching for the suspect, who is believed to be hiding with his family.

The house of the accused is locked and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect along with his family, police added.

Following the incident, civil society and human rights organisations urged parents to monitor online activities and conflicts among children to prevent such tragic outcomes.
