A judicial magistrate in Islamabad on Tuesday remanded the teenage son of an Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge in police custody in a case pertaining to a road accident that left two women dead.
Two women riding an e-scooter were killed when a luxury vehicle allegedly driven by the suspect rammed into the two-wheeler.
Judicial Magistrate Shaista Khan Kundi handed over the custody of the suspect to the police for investigation.
An FIR has been filed at the Secretariat police station. It says that the crash happened late Monday night near the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA).
An SUV, allegedly driven by the judge’s son, hit two PNCA employees who were riding a scooter. Both victims died at the scene. According to police, the SUV left the area immediately after the collision.
The complaint, submitted by Sub-Inspector Muhammad Asghar, stated that officers identified the vehicle through its registration and later located the suspect at a private hospital where he had reportedly gone for treatment. He was taken into custody, and investigators collected medical and forensic samples while the SUV was seized for inspection.
Police have invoked sections 279 (rash driving), 322 (manslaughter) and 427 (damage to property) of the Pakistan Penal Code against the suspect. The investigating officer told the court that more time was needed to verify the suspect’s medical report, complete the vehicle inspection and record statements of witnesses.
