KARACHI: An inquiry panel comprising three members has submitted its report to the Executive Director of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) concerning the issue whereby a lady delivered her baby in the toilet of the hospital due to negligence on the part of the hospital management.
According to the sources in the hospital, the report stated that the said lady visited the hospital’s gynecology ward at about 9 pm, but no immediate medical assistance was provided to her by the hospital administration. In addition, there was no ultrasound examination done for her, but she was rather asked to take some stroll.
The report revealed that neither the consultant nor the RMO was on duty during that time; hence the patient was left neglected.
Furthermore, the report revealed that some male attendants of the patients were found in the gynecology ward premises.
In view of this situation, the recommendation made by the panel include disciplining the medical officer and giving extra training period of three months to post graduate doctors on duty.
