The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the abduction and murder of Dr Warda Mushtaq in Abbottabad has completed its investigation.
According to media reports, after reviewing all aspects of the case, the JIT finalised its findings, including recommendations for action against several officers of the Abbottabad police.
JIT head Khyam Hassan stated that the team will submit its report to the provincial government later this week. He added that over 200 statements were recorded during the investigation, including those of police officers, doctors, and family members of the deceased Dr. Warda.
Hassan said the team also conducted detailed visits to the crime scene and the burial site to carefully examine all evidence and facts. He pointed out that the primary objective of the JIT was to investigate possible negligence in the case and prepare a comprehensive report, a task that has now been completed.
Dr Warda Mushtaq, posted at DHQ Hospital Abbottabad, was abducted and murdered by a friend. Following the incident, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police said that the main suspect in the case was killed in a police encounter.
Abbottabad DPO Haroon Rasheed told a press conference that the suspect, Shamrez, was killed in a shootout with police at Thandiani Road, near Mera Rehmat Khan Kunda, along with two accomplices who also opened fire. Shamrez had been the fugitive in the case.
