The Karachi Police on Wednesday busted a child trafficking gang and apprehended its six criminals, according to the Superintendent Police (SP) Orangi Town Saad bin Ubaid.

“We have exposed the gang that trafficked children for prostitution,” the police official said during a press conference.

He revealed that the accused enticed the kids with a small amount of money. The children were subjected to rape and then forced into sex trafficking, Ubaid added.

A child had gone missing from Orangi on May 11 and through the investigation of the case, police were able to reach the six accused, as per the details shared by the cop.

Besides trafficking children for prostitution, the gang was also involved in other illegal activities.

According to SP Orangi, the operatives of this gang would target children in video game shops or snooker clubs and then lure them into prostitution.

He mentioned that this gang has operated in Karachi for at least two and a half years, targeting young individuals, particularly those who were frustrated with their strict environments at home or who recently migrated to Karachi from other provinces.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) West Irfan Ali Baloch told the media that the police are trying to arrest other operatives of this gang, while this group has also been found involved in 'another heinous crime' as many inappropriate videos of children have been found.
