Like many parts of Karachi, the Malir district continues to struggle with deteriorating road infrastructure, causing daily inconvenience for residents.
Commuters, especially school-going children, are facing serious challenges due to the damaged roads and ongoing development work.
A team from Dialogue Pakistan visited the affected areas to highlight the worsening situation to draw the attention of the concerned authorities.
Although development projects have begun in Malir, the slow pace and poorly managed under-construction work are adding to the citizens’ difficulties.
Residents told DP that severe sewage blockages have resulted in stagnant, foul-smelling water accumulating on streets. They fear that the unhygienic conditions pose health risks, particularly for children who must pass through these areas daily.
Adding to the problem, the railway track near Model Colony has fallen into disrepair as garbage continues to be dumped around it, further showing the lack of maintenance.
The main road connecting Malir to Shahrah-e-Faisal, one of the city's key routes, is also in poor condition, making daily travel difficult and potentially dangerous.
Local residents urge the authorities to take immediate action to prevent any untoward incident and ensure safe, accessible roads for the community.
