Karachi woman's head shaved by family for love marriage desire

A harrowing case of domestic violence has emerged from Karachi’s Korangi area, where a young woman was allegedly assaulted and had her head shaved by her family after expressing her desire to marry for love.

The victim, identified as Naz Fatima, a nurse by profession, was rescued by police following a tip-off from her lawyer.

According to officials, Fatima had been held captive at her family home before police intervened and freed her.

Authorities confirmed the arrest of five individuals, including the victim’s grandmother, mother, father, uncle, and a neighbor.

They face charges of unlawful confinement and assault.

In her statement to the police, Ms. Fatima disclosed that her family had opposed her decision to marry a man of her choice, subjecting her to physical abuse and forcibly shaving her head.

She expressed her wish to leave her parents' home and proceed with her marriage plans.

A formal case has been registered at the Qaidabad police station based on her complaint.
