A poor labourer in Islamabad was lured into a fake marriage by a woman linked to Katcha bandits, who then kidnapped him and demanded two iPhones and Rs 20 million in ransom from his family.

The abductee, identified as Amjad Mehmood, a resident of Mira Beri, left his home on August 21 and has not returned since. He was abducted from within the jurisdiction of the Shalimar police station.

The labourer's son, Afaq Ahmed, filed a complaint with the police, stating that his brother received a call from their father's phone number, claiming that he had been abducted by Katcha bandits who were demanding a hefty ransom for his release.

The dacoits also sent videos to his sons, showing the victim shackled in chains.

According to Afaq, his mother had passed away a while back, and his father was seeking to remarry. Afaq had assured his father that he would save money to arrange his second marriage in due time.

However, Amjad grew impatient and was lured over the phone by an unknown woman who promised to marry him. He left home to meet her without informing his family and then disappeared.

Shortly afterward, the family received a call informing them that Amjad was in the custody of Katcha dacoits.

The ongoing investigation revealed that the woman was connected to the bandits in the Katcha area.

Federal police informed the media that the bandits had taken the labourer from Islamabad to another province.

Islamabad police have obtained the victim's mobile phone records and are making all efforts to recover the abductee.
