The tragic incident occurred on January 1, marking the first recorded murder case of 2025 in Lahore. According to the police, the accused shooter, Usman, was arrested after confessing to the killing of a man named Riaz.
The investigation revealed that Usman had been offered two Umrah tickets by the mastermind in return for carrying out the heinous act.
The mastermind behind the murder was later identified as Imtiaz, Riaz's brother-in-law. It was revealed that Imtiaz had orchestrated the murder, offering Usman the Umrah tickets as a form of "tip money" for the crime.
The police investigation revealed that Riaz and Imtiaz had been embroiled in a dispute over property.
On the day of the murder, Riaz was at a local market with his wife. It was found that Riaz’s brother-in-law, Imtiaz, and Usman had followed him to the market.
Authorities were able to trace Usman through his phone call to the victim’s number.
As of now, Imtiaz remains at large, but the police have assured that a manhunt is underway and he will be apprehended soon.
