In a tragic incident, a long-serving employee of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), Muhammad Khalid, took his own life due to financial hardship resulting from the non-payment of salaries for three months.
Khalid, who had been employed by the LHCBA for the past 25 years, was reportedly struggling to support his family, including his five children, while living in a rented house.
Faced with mounting financial pressures, Khalid ultimately decided to end his life by jumping into the BRB canal. His body was later recovered by rescue teams and handed over to his grieving family. The incident has cast a spotlight on the severe financial difficulties faced by LHCBA employees, who have been struggling without pay for several months.
In the wake of Khalid's death, LHCBA employees have called on the government to provide immediate relief and justice to his bereaved family. The incident has sparked outrage and concern, highlighting the dire circumstances that many workers face due to delayed or withheld salaries.
There is growing demand for accountability and swift action to prevent such tragedies from occurring in the future, as well as for measures to ensure that employees are paid promptly and fairly for their work.
