Mir Raza case: Crime scene casing did not match guard’s pistol

KARACHI: A key forensic report in the murder case of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza has revealed that a bullet casing recovered from the crime scene did not match the pistol belonging to a security guard.

According to the forensic report, the 30-bore casing recovered from the crime scene did not match the two test casings fired from pistol No. LA-1197.

The report states that the striker-pin and breech-face markings found on the crime-scene casing were different from those on the test casings, indicating that they were fired from different firearms.

The forensic report pertains to FIR No. 795/2026 registered at Ferozabad Police Station. The case includes charges related to kidnapping, murder and destruction of evidence.

The murder case has been mired in conspiracy, with the 25-year-old victim’s family accusing police of trying to bury the facts and law enforcers initially trying to build the case around the possibility of suicide.

Earlier, the Punjab forensic laboratory formally informed the investigation committee in writing that it was unable to access the iPhone, sources said.

The Apple Watch and iPhone will now be sent back to the investigation committee, sources said.

A few screenshots and messages were recovered from Mir Raza’s Apple Watch. However, the material obtained from the watch was not considered significant for the investigation, sources said.
