MQM trying to revive its 'dead politics' by politicising issues: Sharjeel

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon says that the MQM was unnecessarily politicising several issues in a bid to bring life back into its dead politics. “The shortage of gas is the concern of the federal government.

Speaking about the shortage of water, he pointed out that the Sindh government had conveyed through an official letter to IRSA that it was facing a 22 per cent shortage of water in the province including Karachi.
He said that Karachi was the last city in Sindh to receive water in the province’s distribution system. This meant that whenever there is an overall shortage of water in the province, it is experienced in Karachi.
He went on to say that the MQM always tried to blame the Sindh government for such issues which were actually under the jurisdiction of the federal government. “Rather than working on the solutions of the problems of the common people, politics of MQM in Karachi revolved around such things,” he concluded.
He said that Karachi was once regarded as one of the finest cities in the world. It was also the capital of Pakistan, and students from various regions, including the Gulf countries, came here for higher education. The city's decline began when the foundations of ethnic and linguistic politics were laid.
The senior minister said that Karachi's problems worsened when parks were converted into marriage halls. He added that the MQM leadership is fully aware of the facts, as parks and sports grounds were encroached upon and individuals involved in serious crimes, including terrorism, were recruited into local government institutions.
