Speculation surfaced on social media that the killing of the teenager, identified as Sana Yousaf, may have been an ‘honour’ killing. However, police have not yet confirmed the motive, nor have they apprehended the suspect.
While news of her tragic death left many shocked and hearbroken, disturbing trends also emerged online, with some individuals celebrating the murder and accusing Sana of promoting vulgarity on TikTok.

It’s sickening to see people rejoice over the death of an innocent human being. This cruelty should not go unpunished.#JusticeForSanaYousaf#sanayousaf pic.twitter.com/EA2pn6Y0Ox

I was browsing Facebook and only checked the comments—people were expressing joy. It makes me feel ashamed that I belong to a nation where some take pleasure in the suffering of innocent girls, driven by such narrow-minded and extreme inhuman thinking.#sanayousaf pic.twitter.com/prCRRquZv7

At this point I’m not even surprised certain people are celebrating the cold-blooded murder of a girl because we’ve seen exactly this. Multiple times. In the past.

Those comments aren’t a minority. They’re a big part of a subculture, and it’s everywhere. https://t.co/GDcElzweQj
She was just 17- a girl making videos, trying to live. Sana Yousaf was shot in her own home. When a girl’s existence is threat enough to end her life, what safety are we pretending to offer women? Being a woman in Pakistan shouldn’t be a death sentence.#JusticeForSanaYousaf

And to those celebrating this murder, what are you? Why can’t a kid laugh and live her life? pic.twitter.com/u0WSpITeTw

Dear @HamiltonPolice, Muhammad Khalilullah (aka Khalil Jughooru), a Canadian citizen and resident of Stoney Creek, has been sharing hateful content and promoting Islamic extremism. The comments saying that this is good because she’s on TikTok seem to primarily be coming from young men. Pakistan has a big problem and it’s not feminism or women posting TikToks - it’s rabid, frothing at the mouth, enraged lunatic men who believe all women are their property. https://t.co/z9tbUzE8Y3

Sana Yousaf is no longer with us. A young, lively, and beautiful soul was taken away too soon. She made videos, she smiled, she lived her life with joy. But this world, full of hate and judgment, couldn't let her live in peace.

Sana Yousaf, a young TikToker, was brutally murdered in her own house.

Her killing reflects a terrifying rise in femicide across Pakistan.
The Government’s inaction on the rising crimes against women and girls is unforgivable.
