Ninth-grader dies after being beaten by teacher in Sargodha

A ninth-grade student died after he suffered a spinal cord injury due to alleged torture by a school teacher in Sargodha, police said on Saturday.

The student, identified as Samiullah, was severely beaten with a stick by his teacher for not remembering a lesson. The beating resulted in a spinal cord injury.

The victim was first taken to a hospital in Sargodha and later transferred to Allied Hospital in Faisalabad, where he succumbed to his injuries. 

The police said that the deceased was staying in the school hostel and the incident reportedly occurred two days ago.

However, the case has been registered against the suspect and the police are conducting raids to put the teacher behind bars.
