PHC stops deportation of man named ‘Quaid-e-Azam’, directs him to appear before Nadra board

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has issued directions to the authorities for not deporting a petitioner known as “Quaid-e-Azam” and instructed him to appear before the verification board of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra).

The two-member PHC bench consisting of Justice Waqar Ahmed and Justice Inamullah Khan was hearing a petition filed by a resident, Quaid-e-Azam, over the restriction imposed on his national identity card.

On behalf of the petitioner, Advocate Saifullah Mohib Kakakhel made his appearance, while the counsel of Nadra, Shahid Imran Gigiyani appeared on behalf of the authority.

In the course of arguments, the lawyer for the petitioner informed the court that his client is doing business in Dubai and in Pakistan. He informed the court that there is a restriction on the national identity card of his client.

“He says that his client is being punished for the blocking of his identity card which is creating great difficulty for him.”

“Kakakhel says that now his client is being asked to present his uncle before Nadra. He says that other members of his client’s family are also in possession of Pakistani identity cards.”

“Gigiyani, assistant director legal at Nadra, informed the bench that the authority has made its submission to the court.”

“But he says that the identity card of the petitioner is suspicious and hence has been blocked.”

“The bench, after listening to both parties, instructed the petitioner to present himself before Nadra’s verification board and restrained the authorities from deporting him till then.”
