In his message in this connection, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that the protection of fundamental rights of citizens, especially the disabled ones, was the government’s topmost priority.
He said that the government of Pakistan fully acknowledges the rights of the disabled citizens and will always look after their safety and needs.
"The Constitution of Pakistan guarantees equal rights and participation for all citizens. People with disabilities are a key part of our society's social, societal, and cultural fabric. Physical limitations do not hamper human mental abilities or rights,” he added.
The premier said that this day was observed worldwide, with a firm commitment to prioritize citizens with disabilities and to help them in every aspect of life.
The Prime Minister said that the Convention on the Rights of Persons with disabilities (CRPD) is actively looking for ways to enhance government policy measures.
However, he praised the efforts of CRPD, saying, "The full inclusion of persons with disabilities is a test of the effectiveness and efficiency of the social system. It also serves as a reminder for us to further evolve a comprehensive strategy to make the system more effective.”
He emphasized that their dedication to safeguarding the health, dignity, and respect of all citizens, ensuring they are free from any discrimination or social inequality, must remain steadfast.
