Police arrest two in theft of over 9,600 govt school books in Rawalpindi

The police have arrested two suspects involved in the theft of over 9,600 educational books intended for free distribution to students of government primary schools in Punjab.
The stolen textbooks, worth thousands of rupees, were recovered in a swift operation led by the City Police Station.
According to police officials, the books had been printed by the Punjab Government as part of its annual initiative to provide free educational material to underprivileged students.
The theft was discovered following a complaint lodged with the City Police, prompting City Police Officer (CPO) Syed Khalid Hamdani to take immediate action.
“Using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence, we not only identified and arrested the main suspects but also recovered the complete consignment of stolen books,” said a police spokesperson.

Authorities confirmed that more suspects believed to be accomplices or facilitators are under investigation and will be arrested soon.
The arrested individuals are expected to face formal charges backed by substantial evidence.
CPO Khalid Hamdani emphasized the importance of protecting resources meant for children's education, stating that the case would be pursued rigorously to ensure justice.
