Police seemed to have failed to curb increasing incidents of street crime as armed robbers shot dead two more persons over resistance in Karachi on Friday.
In the first incident, two bandits robbed a gas cylinder shop in Orangi Town No 13 area of the metropolis.
The dacoits looted mobile phones and cash at gunpoint from the shop owner, police said.
When residents chased them, the robbers opened fire, injuring 50-year-old Yusuf Ali and Abid Hussain.
According to the law enforcers, Hussain later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
In another incident in New Karachi Sector XI E, Muhammad Nazir was killed after Friday prayers when he attempted to foil a robbery attempt.
Nazir, a donkey cart driver and sole breadwinner, had gotten married just a month ago.
His father said Nazir died on the spot due to a bullet wound to the head.
The incidents bring the total number of citizens killed in Karachi by bandits this year to 85, highlighting the city's ongoing struggle with street crime.
