Pakistan People’s Party stated on Saturday that it had reached an understanding with the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz to make the next government of Gilgit-Baltistan jointly. 

The PPP in a statement on X stated: “Following extensive consultations, mutual trust and consensus among the respective leadership and organizations of the PPP and PML-N in Gilgit-Baltistan, it has been decided to make a government through political alliance.

Both parties have committed themselves to move ahead collectively with a focus on political stability, public welfare and well-being, and strengthening of democratic values.” It stated that it would secure the office of chief minister and the offices of governor, opposition leader, and deputy speaker of the G-B Assembly would be secured by the PML-N.

“The people's mandate formula adopted by the two parties is a demonstration of mutual consultations and political harmony. Both the PPP and PML-N are convinced about the fact that political stability is crucial to deal with the challenges being faced by the country in general and Gilgit Baltistan in particular.”

"Both parties have reaffirmed their commitment that they will work together, rising above personal and party interests, for national interest, public service, and the strengthening and prosperity of Pakistan.

This decision to form a coalition government is seen as an important step toward promoting political tolerance, national unity, and democratic continuity, through which effective, stable, and people-friendly governance will be ensured in Gilgit-Baltistan," the statement said.
