PTI leaders ended protest outside the SC after getting assurances that the family of Imran Khan will be provided with his medical report.
The protest was led by KP CM Sohail Afridi and PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja. The party and Khan’s family had been kept in the dark after Khan was taken to the PIMS for an eye procedure, which led to the protest.
Raja, who met CJ Yahya Afridi and other court officials, claimed the assurance that Khan’s medical reports would be shared with his family was a step forward but not fully satisfactory.
He stressed that the “health of our founding chairman” remains PTI’s top priority and said that the part would continue to push for access to his personal physicians until provided.
Moreover, PTI leaders said that their main demand, after access to his medical reports, is for Khan’s rights in jail, including meetings with family and lawyers.
KP CM stressed that the party would decide its next political move in a meeting and a nationwide protest for Khan’s release will be held on Feb 8.
The PTI had been voicing concern over Imran's health in the past few days, claiming that the jail authorities and the government were hindering the treatment of his “serious eye condition” and demanding immediate medical attention.
