A man allegedly gunned down his daughter and nephew in Quetta, Balochistan, in a suspected honour killing attempt and managed to flee the scene after the incident.

The shocking case of honour killing was from Quetta’s Qambrani area, where a father, Abdul Latif, allegedly shot his daughter, Nazneen, and nephew, Ghulam Qadir, to death on Qambrani Road.

The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Shalkot Athar Rashid said the accused managed to escape after the incident.

The bodies of victims were shifted to the hospital for legal proceedings and later handed over to the heirs after completing formalities.

However, a team from Kechi Baig police station launched raids to arrest the suspect. Further investigation into the incident is underway.

This latest incident was reported a few days after a video of a man and woman being killed in the name of honour in Degari, a suburb of Quetta, went viral on social media.

The victims were initially believed to have married someone of their choice, but Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti clarified that the couple were not married.

In connection with the viral video incident, 20 people, including main accused Bashir Ahmed and Sherbaz Satakzai, the head of the Satakzai tribe, have been arrested. The court approved a two-day physical remand of Sherbaz Satakzai.

The cases highlight the ongoing issue of honour killings in the region, and authorities are working to bring the perpetrators to justice.
