A video of a government teacher in Sanghar surfaced on social media, showing him demanding money in exchange for helping students cheat during an exam.

During a practical exam at a higher secondary school in Chak No 40, Sanghar, teacher Ikhlaq Deen Pathan was filmed collecting money from students.

According to reports, students claimed that Pathan demanded Rs500 each in exchange for facilitating cheating during the exam.

After the video emerged in the media, the education department of Sindh promptly took notice of the incident and suspended the teacher.

The cheating mafia operates with impunity in Sindh province, as multiple matriculation exam papers have leaked since exams began this month.

Question papers for many exams were leaked on social media before the examinations began. Private School Association and the MQM-P called for the suspension of the exams, but the education department has not yet addressed these concerning incidents.

Private School Association Chairman Haider Ali accused the Deputy Controller of Examinations of failing to ensure transparency during exams.

He criticised that over 1.5 million students are currently taking exams, yet there seems to be a complete absence of monitoring in the examination centers.

The education system in Sindh is already marred by a number of deep-rooted problems, the examination period only further exposes the lack of meaningful reform efforts by the authorities.
