KARACHI: In response to mounting public pressure and widespread criticism, the Sindh police have released a new photograph of Salman Farooqi in handcuffs, signaling that the authorities are taking visible steps in the ongoing investigation linked to the alleged abuse of a Hindu family in Karachi.

The image, which shows Farooqi in police custody with his hands cuffed, was shared amid intense backlash on social media and from human rights activists, who demanded accountability and transparency in the case.

Farooqi has been at the center of controversy following allegations involving the disappearance of two Hindu siblings, Kalpana and Dheeraj, from the Marwari Lane area of Nabi Bakhsh Road.

The incident took place in Defence Phase 6, near Ittehad Commercial, following a minor collision between Faruqi’s vehicle and a motorbike.

In the footage, Farooqi can be seen physically assaulting the biker and forcing him into his car, while the victim and his sister pleaded repeatedly for mercy. Despite their apologies, Faruqi continued to beat and intimidate the motorcyclist.

The prime suspect is the owner of the production house, Bionic Films.

The Gizri Police Station registered a case against Faruqi under sections related to violence, torture, and criminal intimidation, based on the complaint of eyewitness Shahid Muhammad Saleem.
