Deadly road accidents caused by heavy traffic in the metropolis continue to claim lives, as a speeding trailer truck struck two people on a motorcycle in Malir’s Shah Latif Town, killing one and injuring another.

According to police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night near Anwar Baloch Hotel, where a high-speed trailer collided with a motorcycle carrying two riders.

Following the accident, the trailer’s driver fled the scene, while the police took the vehicle into custody and shifted it to the police station.

The deceased was identified as 45-year-old Amir, son of Ghulam Mustafa, while the injured, 35-year-old Sajid, son of Muhammad Hashim, was rushed to Jinnah Hospital.

Edhi officials confirmed that both victims were relatives. Abdul Rehman, a cousin of the deceased, told the media at Jinnah Hospital that Sajid is Amir’s brother-in-law.

According to him, they were returning to Quaidabad on two motorcycles after dropping their cousin at Cantt Station when a speeding trailer struck their motorcycle near Anwar Baloch Hotel, resulting in Amir’s death and Sajid’s injuries.

Amir, who was born deaf and mute, had married a woman of his choice a few months ago and worked at a special education school. Sajid, a married father of one, is employed at a private textile mill. Both men were residents of Medina Colony, Quaidabad, with ancestral roots in Khairpur Mirs.

Abdul Rehman has demanded strict action against the trailer’s driver, while police have launched an investigation into the incident.
