The Sindh government has announced a strict ban on unregistered vehicles on roads, with senior provincial minister Sharjeel Memon warning of immediate action against violators.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon stated that despite public complaints about delays in number plates, the excise department has 80,000 unclaimed plates. He urged vehicle owners to collect them promptly.

The government has also introduced new regulations for water tankers, requiring barcodes issued by the water board to verify their fitness. Tankers without registration or barcodes will not be allowed to operate.

Heavy traffic operators must now obtain a fitness certificate from the Sindh government. While local vehicles have been given time to comply, those from other provinces must also meet Sindh's fitness standards.

Furthermore, showrooms will be sealed, and vehicles confiscated if unregistered vehicles are found on the roads starting Monday. Imported vehicles entering other provinces will also be closely monitored.

In a move to ease urban congestion, the timing for dumpers operating within the city has been revised from 11 PM - 6 PM to 10 PM - 6 AM. The decision aims to balance public convenience and transport efficiency.
