Two children were killed and 14 others were injured, including two policemen, in a blast that occurred in Balochistan’s Pishin district, police officials said on Saturday.
Station House Officer (SHO) Pishin City Police Station Mujibur Rehman informed that the explosion took place near police line at Surkhab Chowk.
He said that the bomb was placed in a motorcycle due to which three vehicles were also damaged.
SHO Rehman further said the bodies of the victims and wounded were transported to a nearby hospital.
He added that two injured policemen and nine others were in critical condition, who were referred to the hospital in Quetta.
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials cordoned off the area and started collecting evidence from the crime scene.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the incident and prayed for the rapid recovery of the injured.
“Miscreants who targeted innocent children do not deserve to be called human beings," he said while expressing sorrow over the deaths in the blast.
"This war against terrorism will continue until the end of terrorists and their facilitators,” Naqvi vowed.
Earlier on Independent Day, two hand grenade attacks were reported in Quetta, which claimed the life of one person and injured 11 others.
