Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam has etched his name in history by becoming the fastest player to reach 11,000 runs in T20 cricket.
He achieved this remarkable feat during the second T20I against South Africa in Centurion, where he scored 31 runs.
Babar surpassed West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who had previously held the record for the fastest 11,000 T20 runs, reaching the milestone in 314 innings.
Babar, however, achieved the same in just 299 innings, making him the only player to do so in under 300 innings.
At 30 years old, Babar’s T20 career boasts an impressive tally of 11 centuries and 90 half-centuries, cementing his status as one of the game’s top batsmen.
His achievement places him in an exclusive group, making him the 11th player overall to reach 11,000 T20 runs and the second Pakistani after Shoaib Malik, who holds the record with 13,415 runs and is currently the second-highest run-scorer in T20 cricket history.
In addition to this milestone, Babar also surpassed 14,000 runs in international cricket during his innings against South Africa.
