Star Pakistan batter Babar Azam is on the verge of breaking a decades-old record held by former captain Imran Khan when Pakistan faces the West Indies in a two-match Test series starting Thursday in Multan.
Imran Khan, who is Pakistan's fifth-highest run-scorer against the West Indies, has a total of 1,977 runs in matches against them. Currently, Babar Azam has scored 1,676 runs against the Windies, meaning he needs just 301 more runs to surpass Imran Khan’s record.
If Babar manages to score 302 runs in the upcoming series, he will break into the top five list of highest run-scorers for Pakistan against the West Indies.
This two-Test series will also be Pakistan's final assignment in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle, adding extra significance to Babar’s pursuit of this milestone.
