Babar Azam overtakes Shubman Gill to claim top ODI spot

Pakistan star batter Babar Azam has secured the number one position in the latest Internation Cricket Council (ICC) ODI rankings for batsmen, dethroning India’s Shubman Gill.

As per the ICC ranking, Babar has 824 points, 23 more than the Indian opener’s 801. 

The third and fourth spots of the list were clinched by Indian batsmen, Virat Kohli, 768, and Rohit Sharma, 746, respectively.

The 29-year-old batter has also grabbed the fifth position in the list of test batters.

On the other hand, India’s Suryakumar Yadav stands in first spot in ICC's  T20 batters ranking list with 861 points.

England's Phil Salt came in second position, while Pakistani wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan claimed third spot in T20 rankings.

The fourth position was secured by Peshawar Zalmi skipper Babar Azam in the twenty-over format list.

Pakistani bowlers failed to find a place in the top five in the bowling category.

However, left-handed fast bowler and T20 captain Shaheen Shah Afridi secured an eleventh position in the test format, while seventh in T20.
